2012 QA Review for the Internal Medicine Boards Bradley D Mittman 9780983221340 Books Reviews
This was a great resource for my recert because 1) I saw alot of material straight out of the exam, which was really reassuring; 2) I liked the diversity of questions, which were also reflected on the exam; 3) I was able to get thru all the practice questions (there's easily over a thousand) twice before my medicine boards since the explanations are straight to the point. I used the Q&A in conjunction with the Frontrunners Syllabus, reading a chapter out of the syllabus and then hitting that chapter in the Q&A, which was very successful for me.
I was looking for a source of old Q&A for all the medicine on the USMLE Step 3. My friend successfully used Frontrunners Internal Medicine Q&A Review for her Step 3 and used it again with equal success on her Internal Medicine Boards. He said there was no better Q&A review for those 2 exams since it's all clinical medicine. I used it and scored well, but what I liked the most was that the questions are kept short and to-the-point so you're able to get thru alot of Q&A in one sitting. Best of all, the Q&A you see in the book are realistic and train your eye to recognize keywords in the question so you can go right to the answer, which is exactly what I did on my boards! Super find. I'm highly recommending.
I thought the Q&A were right on target from both a content point of view as well as actual Q&A format for my internal medicine boards, although my friend says alot of people are using it for their step 3 as well. I saw tons of Q's on the exam that were right out of the book. I went through these Q&A in conjunction with the Frontrunners internal medicine board review syllabus, which had all the core material, and I passed easily. I actually got my copy for FREE when I ordered my syllabus through the publisher (866-MDBOARD). The last time I checked they were still offering this. Their syllabus is outstanding and you definitely gotta have it if you're tyring to pass the medicine boards.
I got a hold of the Frontrunners' Q&A review before my recert exam in Internal Medicine after my friend recommended it. I'm glad he did because I wasn't quite sure the best way to go. The Q&A in this book were very realistic and I alot of the same questions when I sat for my exam. Relative to the MKSAP and other Q&A sources I'd come across, this one gave me the chance to cover ALOT more questions in the same amount of time because the Q&A were highly representative in subject matter, yet much more succinct. Between my busy practice, rounds, and coming home to kids, etc, etc, I really needed something that would give me the highest yield for the study time I put in. So, I'd highly recommmend the book, and I hope my feedback helps.
As the Educational Director for our residency and a practicing internist, I found this to be hands-down the best resource out there as far as a database of old exam questions in prepping the internal medicine boards. We also found that the book to which this is a companion (i.e. Frontrunners Syllabus), was extraordinary in laying out all the key material in a nicely-organized, concise, and outlined format offering "recently and commonly asked material". Together, these 2 books form the core of our own ABIM Certification residency training program and were mission-critical to getting our perfect pass rates last year. [...]
I purchased the Frontrunner book set to prepare for my Internal Medicine board exam. Although I ordered the books 3 months in advance, the Q&A book never arrived (and I still have a pending order for it 4 months later). While the content book might be satisfactory in quality, I could not truly assess the quality of it without testing my knowledge with the Q&A book that never arrived. In addition to the atrociously long delay in delivery, the Frontrunner publishers also misled me by advertising that the book would be in binding soon and be delivered soon after. There was no communication of how long it would take or what was the exact hold up. Since I already took my exam, I don't even have any use for the book now. I am completely displeased with this product and this company, and I definitely would not recommend this product to anyone.
Great contents, I used it and scored well. Love the style and saved me loads of time over other more archaic reviews. Highly recommended
