This story is primarily about a woman who has spent her life satisfying family in toxic relationships and finally discovering herself. Kathryn does a wonderful job of describing the individuals and their motivations in this story as well as describing the place. I felt that I knew this family and their needs and goals. I am looking forward to seeing more books from this author. I read most of the story in one sitting, I literally could not put it down! I finished it at 3am.Product details

read.An interesting look into a life of someone whose life was smothered by family
Great attention to detail and beautiful character development. You feel like you are right there with them every step of the way. I absolutely can't wait to read more from this author!
This story is written to make you feel like you are in the story and really know the characters, great reading
This novel tells the story of a 40- something woman who has served her family her whole life. Raised by a spiteful, mean mother, who really showed no love for her daughter, the story tells of Sparrow's journey after her mother's death and her thoughts and fears in such a way that you don't want to put the book down. I truly enjoyed reading it, and am looking forward to the sequel coming out next year..
I couldn't put this book down. There is great character and scenery development. I loved this story and the characters. Kathryn has a way of making you feel like are inside the story. I could smell the cake, feel the breeze and see the cottage as if it was right in front of me. I can't wait to read more from her.
I felt like I was in the story and wanted to help Sparrow so badly! Can't wait for the second book.
The novel quickly pulled me into the life of Sparrow, a middle-aged woman and her life in her childhood home. I quickly became enamored of the story and of Sparrow. The house is definitely a prominent character in the book. I can picture the house in my mind now. So as not to give the plot away, I will not tell more.
